Another Timeline and Another Round of Negotiations

Mahmoud Abbas delivering the request for the recognization of Palestine as a state

The same story and once again, the re-launching of the previously re-launched round of negotiations. Nothing has changed, the same corrupt faces representing the Palestinian side, and the same racist Russian (Lieberman) on the other end of the table, perhaps time is the only thing that has changed. It’s been 20 years since these negotiations have started, and no one from the participants have noticed that they have failed miserably, either they lost touch with reality trying to revive a process that has died long and is probably rotten right now, or they simply enjoy it and benefit from it.

Madrid, Oslo, Camp David, Taba, Jerusalem, Ramallah, Jericho, Annapolis, Washington, and -newly added to this list- New York. Every one of these cities had its share from these unfruitful negotiations, that have failed so far to achieve anything, they only made life worse on both sides of the borders, the Israeli officials are not going to give up on their terms and conditions, the Palestinian negotiators are convinced that life is negotiations, or so claims the Palestinian top negotiator Saeb Erekat, who was willing to give up on the most important right in the Palestinian cause which is the right of return, neglecting the fact that the Palestinian cause is more about the right of return and the refugees, than it is on that of a state.

The Quartet set a new time-line for this round of re-launching the negotiations that is the end of 2012, last year’s time-line for it was set at September 2011, and the re-launching stopped one month later due to Israeli refusal to halt building in Settlements. The Palestinian street have had it with these negotiations, everyone was convinced they are a waste of time and lost hope of any change taking place. Aside from that, the American sponsorship of the negotiations -that is totally biased to the Israeli side, in sickness and in health, in good times and bad ones- makes it impossible to achieve anything through these empty meetings.

Mideast Quaretet

It’s about time that those who negotiate in our names start realizing that they are not representing us but themselves and their interests, and that the two-states solution has failed miserably due to many reasons, one of many is that the settlers are the power driving the state of Israel and no Israeli leader can evacuate a single settler, and there are now about 500 thousand settler settling in the West Bank and Jerusalem, another is that no Israeli leader is going to give up on East Jerusalem, and finally no Israeli leader is going to approve on the right of return. That’s why we should work on the bi-national state solution, one secular and democratic state that assures everyone’s equal rights. We Palestinians should keep up the unarmed resistance against the occupation and start fighting for equal civil and social rights along with the right of return, because this is the solution not the negotiations, and definitely not through the Palestinian Authority and the current government of Israel.

A World of Hypocrisy

I can’t stop thinking how the world is hypocritical place, the whole world remembers a tragical event that occurred a decade ago but refuses to acknowledge other events that were just as tragic maybe even more. This includes the various news outlets and also the countries of the globe.

The whole world remembered the tragic events that occurred on the 11th of September, but how many remembered the tragic events of Sabra and Shatila? Are they out of fashion? Or is the blood of some people worth more than others? The whole world insists on talking about the horrible events that happened that day in New York, but what about Sabra and Shatila isn’t the massacring of innocent people just because they were of Palestinian origin less horrible?

The Palestinian people have their 11th of September in daily doses by occupation forces, and settlers who for some reason are never called terrorists no matter what they do, burning olive trees “Promotion of peace and accepting the other”. But does the world remember that? This is why the world the countries and the news sources are hypocritical, though some people just prefer to call it “Diplomacy”.

My message to the world is the following: a tragedy is a tragedy, no matter who imposed it upon who with no difference in color, ethnicity, nationality or religion. Let’s not forget Sabra and Shatila and those who died because someone made the decision that they should pay for it.

Dissolve the Palestinian Authority #DissolveThePA

The Palestinian Authority was born on 1994 as a result of the Oslo agreement between Israel and the PLO under Yasser Arafat. The intention was that the PA would assume control of West Bank and Gaza and start preparing for the creation of the state of Palestine, until Isaac Rabin was assassinated by an Israeli rightist.

Since its formation the PA was involved in corruption, and the daily lives of the average Palestinians only became worse, many people dropped their private owned jobs to work for the PA, and those involved in the security forces of the PA which are estimated to be around 300 thousand. And as we can see that Israel can simply stop the flow of tax money that they collect on the PA’s behalf, and this means that no salaries are to be paid in that month.

The PA has worked tirelessly on making Ramallah the center for their achievements and to be the political capital of Palestine, and you can see the new buildings, the amazing streets, that’s why Ramallah became a bubble to impress its visitors that it’s flourishing under the PA administration. One has to go to the other cities and towns in the West Bank to see what life is really like.

The West Bank has all the requirements for a revolution, unemployment is very high, poverty was reported to be close to 79%, and a dictatorship was already established in the West Bank and Gaza before any state could be achieved. The Fateh-Hamas governments have established horror regimes based on torture, prisons, security services, and getting involved in the private life of people, a bunch of elitists control everything with no regard to the people’s demands or regards. A theocracy in Gaza, and a typical Arabic dictatorship in the West Bank with stupid laws showing up every now and then. The people must take the initiative of bringing the PA to an end, and restore freedom to themselves.

The West Bank proved to be a puppet for the Israeli occupation doing their job, arresting and interrogating people on behalf of Israel, their will to drop the right of return which is the base of the Palestinian cause, and the readiness to give up Jerusalem. And at the same time Gaza proved that it’s just another Iran but over looking the Mediterranean, arresting activists on no legal base and against every law, the extreme precautions they take, and the involvement in the people’s private issues such as forcing hijab, and forbidding women to smoke shisha in public.

The Israeli occupation must get back to doing what it has to do, and what the situation was like before the PA’s creation, in which the occupation had to provide health care, education, and even jobs for those living under it’s authority. Because the PA is just making it easier and comfortable for the Israelis with their existence, and then with the natural evolution of things we’ll end up enforcing the one state solution, because no other solution makes sense other than that.

9 Reasons why I oppose the September bid

Corruption at it's best

I thought for a long time how do I feel about this September bid and what’s going to happen afterwards, I reached to the conclusion that I oppose it, and anyone with the minimum amount of patriotism should oppose it. I have many reasons but I decided to write ten main reasons that will explain why I am totally against this bid. Although I dream day and night about a state where I get my full rights, the state the Palestinian Authority is calling for doesn’t represent me as a Palestinian.

What does the bid means?

The bid means that the Palestinian Authority will get a full membership in the United Nations General Assembly and that’s about it, in other words this is one of those “symbolic moves” that are good for nothing. A way for the PA to say we achieved something, when on the ground nothing is going to change.

The Palestinian Authority

One of the reasons I oppose the September bid is due to the fact that PA is involved in it. The Palestinian Authority had a long history in “peace negotiations” that for the past 20 years didn’t achieve anything on the ground, and made the daily lives of the average Palestinian much worse than under the Israeli control. The Palestinian Authority are a bunch of elitist who imposed themselves as the speakers and representatives of the Palestinian people claiming exclusive rights to negotiate and give up everything the Palestinians had ever fought for.

The Israeli Occupation

According to international law Israel is responsible for everything in the West Bank, Gaza, and Jerusalem. From education and healthcare to employment, the September bid as well as the Oslo agreement spares the Israeli government from its responsibilities towards the Palestinian people living under occupation.

The Palestinian State

The Palestinian state which will be composed of the West Bank and Gaza doesn’t have any resources and is totally dependant on foreign aid money which when the state is born will stop flowing, have no means of production and thus can’t be sustained financially. Also the Israelis collect the tax money on behalf of the Palestinian Authority and can cut it at anytime, depending on the political situation which means that no steady financing is available.

The Settlements

The fact that there are more than 500 thousand settlers in the West Bank and Jerusalem makes it impossible to neglect their presence. The settlers or the national religious community that believes it’s their duty to be present in the West Bank and Jerusalem won’t give up easily, they control the Israeli government and they have a very big effect on the Israeli politics and politicians, and the government will try to satisfy them by any means necessary.

The Corruption

The Palestinian Authority had a long history of corruption since it’s foundation, and those affiliated with it (mostly Fatah members) makes it unreliable to lead the peace process or to represent the Palestinian people in the international community, and the fact that all those benefiting from the PA’s presence are all elitists living in mansions with nothing to tie them with the average Palestinian who has to struggle in daily life through checkpoints, and in getting bread for his family.

The Daily Lives of the Palestinians

This will cut the connection between families whether they are inside the green line, or in the West Bank, or in Gaza. One who lives in Nazareth will be required to cross the borders to get to Ramallah to visit relatives or one who is in Bethlehem will have to cross into Israel to visit family members in Gaza. Aside from the negligence of the refugees abroad and their sufferings in the camps.

The Giving Up on the Right of Return

The continuation in following the September bid will make it impossible for the refugees to return to the houses they left back in 1948, and that means the killing of the real Palestinian cause which is the refugees and their right to return.

What’s Going to Happen Afterwards?

So far the Palestinian Authority didn’t involve the Palestinians in the decision making process and is acting according to their needs, and they forgot that they are not selling a house, they are selling everything even things that don’t belong to them. The PA didn’t make it clear for their options after the bid, and what are their next moves. Not to mention that they did not explain to the people how will the process happen, considering it’s the future of a people they’re messing with.

No to the September bid, and no to the Palestinian Authority.

With the middle east amidst many political reforms and humanitarian uprisings, the Palestinian people have every right to claim their stolen land and the rest of their basic humanitarian needs. Egypt had a tyrannical ruler for 30 years, Libya 40 years, Tunis 32 years and the Palestinians have been deprived of their freedom for 63 years. It is time to put an end to this…

Facebook Page: RETURN TO PALESTINE | #May15

Facebook & Twitter Event:  WHEN I RETURN–A collective celebration of hope and promise | Starting May 14, 2011

Let’s not forget the 15th of May

The 15th of May, a day that is known to the Palestinians as Al-Nakba (The Catastrophe). On that day hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were forced to leave their homes, their possessions, their memories behind them and run for their lives. Some were kicked out by the Zionist militias such as the Haganah, Stern, or the Palmach, and some simply left out of fear for their lives but they were forbidden to return.

Those who stayed suffered from the martial law that was imposed upon them, forbidding them from many rights including the right to move freely, and the army didn’t hesitate to kill those who defied the curfew that was imposed after the 1948 war, such as the Kafr Qasim massacre, that resulted in the death of 48 Arab civilians, including 6 women and 23 children aged 8–17.

This year amongst the Arab Spring calls have risen for a true peaceful revolution on the 15th of May. These calls suggest that all the Palestinian refugees attend demonstrations on the borders their countries share with Israel, these calls also asks the people to try and break into the border if they can, if such a thing happens this could be the first serious attempt to march in thousands to the land they were kicked out from.

The right of return is sacred no one has the right to give that up, this will show both Israel and those accept the partial solutions (the PLO and Hamas) that the right of return will not die. It maybe a dream but someday will come true, and that day is close.
